ALDOUS HARDING - Train On The Island Vinyl

Aldous Harding split time between New Zealand and the UK in the making of new LP Train On The Island; the setting matters, as those old Welsh rooms carry a certain weight, a sense of continuity across Party, Designer, Warm Chris and now this, the same walls but a different headspace each time. Fifth LP in and the context feels steadier but more inward-facing, Harding now working from a position of quiet control rather than arrival, writing without the need to announce herself. Collaborators remain close - H. Hawkline woven into the sessions, Sebastian Rochford and Joe Harvey-Whyte adding small but telling details - a reliable and familiar cast. Lyrically, the record circles distance, roles, and the act of stepping into and out of identity, shaped in part by years of touring and the strange dislocation that follows it.
