The live album 'Magic Boy' presents Jimi Hendrix's legendary first concert at the Berkeley Community Theater in May 1970.

Hendrix fans first became aware of his Berkeley performance when two early posthumous releases featured a thunderous version of "Hear My Train A Comin'" (on Rainbow Bridge from 1971) and his electrifying interpretation of "Johnny B. Goode" (on Hendrix: In The West from 1972). The chaotic 1971 film 'Jimi Plays Berkeley' further increased interest with excerpts of "Purple Haze" and "Star Spangled Banner".

'Magic Boy' contains these classics and for the first time compiles the concert in its original order. The album allows fans to hear the new songs "Ezy Ryder" and "Freedom" in development, before they were completed in the studio, as well as "Message To Love" and "Machine Gun" from the recently released Band Of Gypsys album. In addition, there are high-intensity versions of Experience favorites like "Fire" and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)".

The entire concert has been newly remixed by Eddie Kramer from the original multitrack tapes.
