The Beatles famously stopped playing live in 1966 after they realised that getting pelted with jelly babies and not being able to be heard over hordes of screaming fans was a waste of time for everyone involved. There was, however, a final performance from the band on 30th January 1969, when they took to the roof of the Apple Corps headquarters and played a handful of tunes for themselves, and the freezing cold passers-by on the streets of Savile Row below. The performance was part of the Let It Be project, and with the help of keyboardist Billy Preston, the band gave one of the most iconic live shows in the short history of popular music. They performed three takes of 'Get Back', two of 'I've Got A Feeling' and 'Don't Let Me Down', and one of 'One After 909' and 'I've Got A Pony'. Whilst it sounds like the band were having an absolute blast, passers-by were bemused, local businesses complained, and eventually the police were called to shut it down.
