NINAJIRACHI - I Love My Computer Vinyl

Australian DJ and dayglo house producer Ninajirachi's debut lands with the confidence of someone who has spent more hours with a laptop than with any actual human being. I Love My Computer isn't really a concept record, though the title gestures at one; it's more a diary of growing up online, filtered through bright, sugar-rushed electronics. 'iPod Touch' bounces in first, all chrome synths and fizzy percussion, before 'Fuck My Computer' undercuts the sheen with something more jagged and self-mocking. The album's softer core shows in 'All I Am', where her melodies widen and the mix stops buzzing long enough to breathe. The computer-as-companion theme is loose but it anchors everything. What could have been slick feels strangely warm instead, like pop coded in fluorescent nostalgia.
