HARUOMI HOSONO - Tropical Dandy (50th Anniverary Edition) Vinyl

Strap in for the first ever vinyl reissue of Haruomi Hosono's 1975 solo album Tropical Dandy. Recorded just after Hosono House, the Tokyo mastermind here took a left turn into playful hybrids of exotica, jazz and Western pop, blending lounge whimsy with studio precision, which would of course form the loose strands of what would later become city pop. It follows last year's Hosono House Revisited, seeing artists like John Carroll Kirby and Pearl & The Oysters reinterpret his early work. Now geysering back to the fore on its 50th anniversary, it comes on 180-gram vinyl in ocean blue or black, both cut in the US and bundled with a newly translated version of Hosono's original liner notes and an exclusive OBI.
