Coming through with an intriguing take on the lo-fi hip-hop sound, Grey October Sound drops Lo-Fi City Pop, which moves through many different covers of classic Japanese city-pop hits. A fitting follow-up to the artist's last covers album, which focused on Studio Ghibli covers, this one builds hot on the heels on the recognition the artist has built for themselves over the past few years.Cclacky and boxy versions of the likes of Taeko Onuki's 'Tokai' and Miki Matsubara's 'Fly-Day Chinatown' all appear in dazzling instrumental-jazzy style, owing to the producer's rather efficient remix talents.
