CINDY LEE - Cat O' Nine Tails Vinyl

First released in a minuscule 50-copy lathe cut run in 2020, Cat O' Nine Tails finally gets a proper outing via W.25TH. Calgary's Cindy Lee, the shapeshifting alter of Patrick Flegel, recorded this between What's Tonight To Eternity and Diamond Jubilee, and it sits right in the heart of that strange, liminal arc. Opener 'Our Lady Of Sorrows' sets the stage like a lost soap opera theme, giving way to the anxious, spiralling title suite, scattered across three parts. 'Faith Restored' drifts in with twanging, tremolo-soaked guitar, while 'Love Remains' introduces Flegel's signature falsetto at its most wounded. The torch-song melancholy of 'I Don't Want To Fall In Love Again' and the gauzy closer 'Bondage Of The Mind' confirm this as more than a curiosity.
